September in Gothenburg, working on some different art project among them my PUUT library as a part of GIBCA – extended.
I aim to make and put art in places where it’s not often a part of the site. This to create questions but also to show an attitude that the hierarchy is something that I despise and find extremely un attractive and utterly part of the problems of our world. To often the community of art just shows the engagement when it’s part of an show, when there is an idea to be political is not that you really take a stand but more of a way to become art.
When the political art is more of a way to make an career than that the artist take a stand.
There are countless of times when my (to often male) colleagues at one point declare themselves as feminists, on the other hand if there is an opportunist (aka, someone higher in the hierarchy) who behave or beeing sexists then 99,9% of these “feminist” artists (male is the ones that I mean) all of a sudden is gone. The engagement for equal rights are all of a sudden not to be reach, the possibilities of you loosing is worth much more. I have loads of them male artists whom everybody knows (at least here in Sweden!) that have been even defending shit-heads sexists behaviour from a perspective where it’s all about their own careers.
